Virgin Media Television has announced a brand-new streaming platform and a schedule of fresh content for autumn that viewers can enjoy starting in September. The Virgin Media Play app will stream some of the most talked-about TV shows, unmissable sporting events, and reality boxsets. The TV giant has revealed that the brand-new app, which can be downloaded from September 2, will open a world of entertainment for viewers.

The new app is understood to be available on phones, tablets, and smart TVs. Virgin states that it will be the home for the most sought-after content, both at home and abroad. New exclusive drops include the drama series ‘The Arrangement’, and reality shows such as ‘Below Deck Mediterranean’, ‘Million Dollar Listing’, ‘The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’, and ‘Vanderpump Rules’.



Additionally, Virgin has released a host of new programmes and documentaries for Autumn, with the highly anticipated Virgin Media Original Series ‘Dead and Buried’ making its TV debut on September 2. The series, filmed in Ireland, will then be available on Virgin Media Play after the first episode. Fans of Classic Hits presenter and TV host Lucy Kennedy will be delighted to hear that the Sandycove native is returning to Virgin on September 30 with the all-new ‘Real Life with Lucy’, which will take an unfiltered look at life for young people in Ireland, including transgenderism, addiction and the increase in sophisticated online scams.

From identity theft to romance fraud, Lucy explores how young people fall victim to the increasingly sophisticated and murky world of scams. She spends time with young addicts recovering from substance abuse and discovers just how accessible drugs are now. With so much noise around sports, schools and bathrooms, Lucy takes an unfiltered look at what life is really like for the transgender community in Ireland.

Another new Irish format ‘Life Actually’ follows eight young Irish couples over the course of a year as they navigate the real-life highs and lows of the modern day ‘happily ever after’. From planning a family and buying a house to life-changing diagnoses and walking down the aisle, this six-part series provides a raw look inside the lives of Ireland’s twenty, thirty and forty-somethings. The nation’s favourite Gogglebox Ireland is set for its season 10 return to our screens, with several familiar faces returning to their sofas to offer their views on the week’s top tele.

Gogglebox Ireland season 10 will see a host of new faces join the cast, ready to weigh in on the week’s topics from the comfort of their sitting rooms. When it comes to the new sports season, a spokesperson for Virgin Media said: ‘Virgin Media Television remains the go-to destination for sports fans this season, with the best of free-to-air sport, including the 2024 Autumn Nations Series, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Nations League, Diamond League Athletics, and much more.’ Anthony Nilan, Director of Programming at Virgin Media Television, said: ‘We’re thrilled to launch a new season of programming that truly reflects the diversity, ambition, and creativity at the heart of our content.

This lineup brings together bold new voices and familiar favourites across a range of genres that will captivate and engage audiences, staying true to our role as a valued public service broadcaster for Irish viewers.’ One of the standout dramas this autumn is ‘Coma,’ featuring Jason Watkins as Simon, a family man on the edge who finds himself harassed by a group of local teenagers. When Simon confronts their leader, a split-second decision sets off a chain of life-altering events.

For true crime fans, ‘Until I Kill You’ is a must-watch. This gripping series follows the harrowing journey of a remarkable woman who, after surviving a series of brutal attacks by a man who should never have been allowed to commit such crimes, fights to achieve justice. Popular dramas, including the third season of the hit police series ‘The Tower’ and the fourth season of the critically acclaimed detective show ‘Grace’, are returning to screens this season.

This season also brings a wealth of new original Irish documentaries, such as ‘Women Locked Up: Inside the Dóchas Centre,’ offering unprecedented access and powerful insights into life within Ireland’s largest women’s prison. Viewers can also sink their teeth into several brand new Virgin Documentaries such as ‘Generation Rent’ with Zara King, Inside ‘Ireland’s Most Dangerous Hospital’, which looks at the harrowing stories behind families who have fallen victim to systematic failures in University Hospital Limerick and Paul Quinn’s ‘Ireland’s Thalidomide Scandal’, which investigates how a drug prescribed to pregnant women in the 50s and 60s subsequently lead to the birth of babies with a range of disabilities.
