India, on Sunday, defeated Bangladesh by 280 runs to win the first of the five test matches. Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja put on devastating performances at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, dismantling the Bangladeshi batting order. The visitors were reduced to 234 runs in the second innings, thanks to Ashwin's fifer.

It was the Indian legend's 37th five-wicket haul, which followed a stunning century. Ashwin scored 113 runs in the first innings after the top order failed to perform and thus helped India reach a score of 376 runs. Unfortunately, Kohli was unable to make significant contributions as he only scored a combined total of 23 runs in two innings. Jadeja complemented Ashwin in winning the game by a huge margin. Apart from scoring 86 runs in the first innings, Jadeja took three wickets including the final one which sealed India's victory.

Rishabh Pant also made a phenomenal comback in Test cricket by scoring 39 and 109 runs in two innings, respectively. Needless to say, fans are satisfied with the players' performance and are looking forward to the second match which begins on September 27.
