New Delhi: In an unfortunate twist, Vinesh Phogat, the Indian Wrestler has been disqualified from the Paris Olympics 2024 hours before the final.

Vinesh was competing in the 50kg freestyle wrestling category and was found to exceed 150 grams over the 50 kg weight limit for the competition. Reports say, Visnesh generally competes in the 53 kg category but she managed to bring her weight down to 50kg for the Paris Olympics. Unfortunately, on the second day of her weigh-in, it was found that she was overweight exceeding the limit by a small margin of 150 grams.

During examination, it was found that Vinesh Phogat weighed over 1 kg which she desperately wanted to lose. Hoping to correct her weight she was awake the whole night and went through a gruelling night of cycling and other exercise and managed to lose 900 grams, according to NDTV report. But how can you lose weight overnight and most importantly is it safe? Explaining this, Dr Shrey Srivastava Assistant Professor -Internal Medicine, Sharda Hospital, Greater Noida told News9 , “To lose 100 grams overnight, focus on minimising water retention and expelling waste.

Avoid salty foods and refined carbohydrates, which can cause water retention. Instead, opt for a light, balanced dinner rich in lean proteins and vegetables.” How to lose weight fast? According to Dr Srivastava, “Hydrate well throughout the day, but reduce fluid intake in the evening to prevent overnight water weight.

Engage in light physical activity, such as a short walk, to aid digestion and metabolism. Ensure a good night’s sleep, as poor sleep can disrupt hormonal balance and metabolism. Remember, this weight loss is likely temporary and largely due to fluctuations in water and waste rather than fat loss.

Consistent, healthy habits are essential for sustainable weight management” Vinesh Phogat made history by becoming the first Indian woman to reach the final wrestling event in the Olympic Games..
