The official handover ceremony took place on Thursday, November 28, at Porto Velho Airport, with notable attendees including Brazil’s Minister of Ports and Airports, Silvio Costa Filho, National Aviation Secretary Thomé França, and local government officials. This extensive project was part of VINCI Airports’ long-term strategy following its acquisition of the Amazon airports in 2021.
With an investment of R$1.4 billion, the upgrades have impacted seven major airports: Manaus, Tefé, Tabatinga, Porto Velho, Boa Vista, Rio Branco, and Cruzeiro do Sul. The goal was to improve safety, accessibility, operational efficiency, and passenger comfort, all while enhancing air connectivity between the Amazon and the rest of Brazil, as well as international destinations.
