Vadodara: As water levels are rising in the Dhadhar and Narmada rivers, villages located on the banks of these two rivers have been kept on alert. On Saturday, the Vadodara district collectorate issued directives asking residents of around 36 villages on the banks of the Dhadhar and 25 villages on the banks of the Narmada to remain on alert. The directives were issued as water levels at Dev dam near Waghodia and Narmada dam in Kevadia were rising.

Residents have been asked to stay away from the rivers as there is possibility of flooding. Navapura, Rajali, Thuvavi, Dholar, Karelipura, and Behrampura villages in Dabhoi taluka, Kherda, Pingalwada, Manpur, Survada, and Sambhoi villages of Karjan taluka, apart from Vanchara, Kotana, Shehra, Kotawada, and Nedra of Padra taluka, have been put on alert. Similarly, in Vadodara taluka, Talsat, Dhaniyavi, Shahpura, Vadadla, Ajitpura, Por, and Gosindra, among others, have been put on alert.



All these villages are on the banks of the Dhadhar river . Villages like Chandod, Karnali of Dabhoi taluka, Malsar, Ambali, Barkal, and Devar of Shinor taluka, and Alampura, Rajali, and Nani Karol of Karjan taluka that are located on the banks of the Narmada river have also been put on alert. The authorities have also shared helpline number ‘1077’ for the residents of these regions.
