Derry Rose Darcy, a producer with the BBC, previously spoke about her granny being a huge fan of one of the hosts, telling the Irish Mail on Sunday ‘My granny loves Daithí Ó Sé. Like, I mean, she’s in love with the man.’ She also said her work with BBC Radio Foyle initially inspired her to enter the competition.

‘We had the previous [Derry] Rose Áine Morrison on [the show]. And just the way she talked about it, I was like, this would be an amazing experience to go and do So, I thought, you know what, let’s go for it. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

’ Kerry Rose Emer, a paediatric radiographer and fluent Gaeilgeóir, couldn’t conceal her own glee at participating in the show, saying ‘I’m delighted with it, especially today with this sun, you can see the bit of sparkle. The beautiful Tina Griffin, she’s been unbelievable to me. ‘She’s gone above and beyond, giving me loads and loads of dresses on loan.

I’d say half of my tour dresses are hers.’ On night one, viewers said that Perth Rose Maria Collins was one of their favourites, with her admitting she was a bit nervous but revealed the week running up to the competition had been ‘amazing’. Taking to social media to express their opinions on the Cork native, who was joined by her Australian boyfriend, viewers and fans reacted to the teacher’s interview, branding her ‘hard to beat.

’ Others, who thought Collins was also ‘amazing’ shared sweet messages about her on social media site X, tipping her as their favourite. One fan of the Perth Rose wrote: ‘She was good..

. Note her for a Paddy Power bet later,’ while another commented: ‘The Perth Rose. Maria Collins from Coppeen in County Cork will be hard to beat.
