Victoria Police has made an “incredibly significant” seizure during raids conducted by the VIPER Taskforce. The organised crime task force executed four search warrants earlier this week, arresting three people and seizing more than $6.4 million worth of cash, gold bullion, luxury goods and illicit products.
The raids were part of an ongoing investigation into the supply and distribution of methylamphetamine in Melbourne’s northern suburbs. VIPER Taskforce Detective Inspector Mark Newlan said those involved were fuelling “violence, crime and drug addiction” on Victorian streets. VIPER Taskforce offices executed three search warrants on Tuesday, October 29 – two at residential addresses in Taylors Hill and Kealba and one at a storage facility in Brooklyn.
Police seized a large quantity of cash – believed to be around $1 million – from the Taylor’s Hill property, as well as approximately $500,000 worth of gold ingots and $250,000 worth of luxury handbags. A 35-year-old Taylors Hill woman was arrested and interviewed by police but was released pending further enquiries. Officers searching the Kealba address discovered 100,000 illicit cigarettes, approximately $250,000 worth of luxury handbags and at least $100,000 cash – all of which was seized.
A 50-year-old man and a 49-year-old woman inside the address were both arrested and interviewed by police. They were released pending further enquiries. The raid on the Brooklyn storage facility turned up approximatel.
