A new fundraising campaign invites people to get moving for the Allan Brook Nature Centre. The Vernon nature centre announced the launch of Okanagan Moves, a fall event that aims to celebrate the outdoors while supporting the centre's nature education programming. From Sept.

1-15, people are invited to walk, run, hike or bike throughout the Okanagan's beautiful landscapes and track their kilometres to raise funds for Allan Brooks' educational programming. The fundraiser encourages people to embrace the beauty of the Okanagan Valley, fostering a deeper connection for the natural world. By participating in Okanagan Moves, people are not only promoting a healthy and active lifestyle but also supporting the nature centre's mission to provide educational opportunities and inspire a love for nature in all generations.

Registration for the fundraiser is $10. From Sept. 1-15, participants can choose their preferred way of moving through the valley, tracking their kilometres as they go.

The participant with the most kilometres logged in each category — on foot and cycling — will win a grand prize, celebrating their dedication to exploring the outdoors. "We are thrilled to launch Okanagan Moves and invite our community to connect with nature in a meaningful way," said Cheryl Hood, executive director of Allan Brooks Nature Centre. "The Okanagan Valley offers unparalleled beauty and diverse ecosystems, and this fundraiser is a fantastic opportunity for people to immerse themselves in our incredible natural surroundings while supporting our educational programs.

Whether you're an avid hiker, cyclist, or someone who loves a leisurely walk, there's a place for everyone to participate in this fundraiser. Let's move for nature!" To participate, register by Aug. 31 and receive a tracking form and a printable PDF to log your progress.

Participation will directly support Allan Brooks Nature Centre's educational initiatives, helping its team provide enriching educational experiences for all. For more information and to register, visit ..
