Vanessa Feltz has given a health update after she was rushed to hospital at the weekend. The veteran broadcaster, 62, took to Instagram on Monday morning to share an emotional video from her hospital bed revealing she was recovering from surgery after she “doubled over in agony” while playing with her young grandchildren on Sunday. Feltz said that the culprit was a “big kidney stone” which was discovered after a scan and “astoundingly painful”.

A decision was swiftly made to then remove it. Recalling what had happened in the clip, she told her 392,000 followers: “Good morning from hospital! Bit of a surprise. Yesterday I was absolutely fine, completely fine and I had the children Saskia and the babies over for lunch and I was completely fine and not anything wrong with me at all.

“And then suddenly, I got this pain and it was just absolutely extraordinary, I’ve never had anything and I've given birth to two children naturally, never had any pain like that in my life and suddenly went from completely normal to doubled over in proper agony.” Feltz went on to share that she had been forced to call in sick to her LBC show on Sunday evening, which she said was an indication of just how bad the situation was. She explained: “I was meant to be presenting a show on LBC from 6-9 and I'm normally quite a trooper at this stuff.

I could be ill and take paracetamol and just rock on but there was no way I could so I just couldn’t. “Luckily managed to get seen at hospital quite quickly thank god, because I was in agony. I couldn’t sit down, I couldn’t lie down.

I didn’t know what to do, you know when the pain is absolutely astounding. “Anyway, you’ve probably guessed what it was because if you’ve been through it you’ll know. A kidney stone? Never had one in my life before, never.

It was extraordinary 5ml and so they operated. I can truthfully say I was rushed into the theatre a beautiful neurologist operated on me and now, here I am all dripped up, but feeling considerably better than I did last night, I can tell you that for nothing,” she continued. “So morning to anybody who has suddenly found themselves in hospital yesterday when they were having a completely normal day.

I send all my love.” The star went on: “Sorry I look so rough, I haven’t got any make or anything like that, I didn’t have a chance to gather any up. “Apparently they had to nuke it with a laser.

They had to blast the stone as it was so big that they couldn’t have got it out any other way or something like that. I don’t really like to picture it to tell you the truth. “Anyway, all my love to you and hope that you’re having a good Monday and that mine is certainly better than Sunday.

” In her accompanying caption, the London-born star said she was “very grateful” and sent her thanks to “my daughters nurses porters anaesthetist and wonderful surgeon”. Her friends and followers were quick to send their well-wishes in the comments. “Sending you all my love.

You are handling everything like a warrior Queen. Here for you as always x,” wrote Myleene Klass. “Oh bloody hell V! Super ouch and thank goodness you’re ok.

Big love honey,” penned Lisa Snowdon, followed by a red love heart emoji. “Ouch! Thank goodness you’re in the right place. Feel better and sending my love x,” added Kate Thornton.
