Friday, October 4, 2024 Uttarakhand Tourism has launched the much-anticipated ‘Mount Kailash Darshan from Indian Soil’ pilgrimage, providing devotees with the extraordinary opportunity to witness the sacred Mount Kailash from within India. Pilgrims can now view the revered mountain from the Old Lipulekh Peak in the Pithoragarh district, along with a visit to Om Parvat, offering a spiritual journey that stays entirely within Indian borders. The first group of pilgrims embarked on this sacred journey on October 2, 2024, coinciding with Gandhi Jayanti, and were able to behold the awe-inspiring Mount Kailash from Old Lipulekh Peak the following day, October 3.
Their pilgrimage continues with a visit to Adi Kailash on October 4, before returning to Pithoragarh, according to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO). This comprehensive pilgrimage package includes helicopter transportation from Pithoragarh to Gunji and back, with accommodations arranged at either Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam (KMVN) guesthouses or homestays. The CMO highlighted that the initiative aims to facilitate a seamless spiritual experience for travelers while promoting religious tourism in the region.
Among the first group of five pilgrims, Neeraj Manohar Lal Chowksey and Mohini Neeraj Chowksey from Bhopal were deeply moved by the sight of Mount Kailash, expressing immense gratitude to the government for opening this new route. Neeraj Chowksey remarked that the initiative will be a boon for Shiva devotees worldwid.
