Saturday, November 9, 2024 Uttarakhand, which emerged as a separate entity from Uttar Pradesh on November 9, 2000, is set to mark its 24th Foundation Day this Saturday. However, it continues to face hurdles, particularly in healthcare and education, alongside a significant trend of migration from the hill regions to urban centers.

On an encouraging front, Uttarakhand has witnessed substantial growth in tourism, with projections pointing to nearly 100 million visitors this year. Infrastructure developments have enhanced connectivity, marked by projects such as the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway, the Rishikesh-Karnprayag railway line, and new flight routes linking major cities, all aimed at facilitating easier access to the state.

Young individuals are relocating within Uttarakhand or beyond to pursue employment opportunities. Despite progress in healthcare, more focused efforts are necessary.

Political analyst Udit Ghildiyal emphasized the difficulty of implementing development projects in the mountainous areas .
