The Uttar Pradesh government, in collaboration with the Ministry of External Affairs, hosted a briefing in New Delhi for foreign journalists to discuss Mahakumbh 2025. Scheduled to take place in Prayagraj, the event is anticipated to draw millions of devotees from across the globe.

The briefing emphasized Mahakumbh’s profound spiritual, cultural, and economic importance, positioning it as one of the largest gatherings on the planet. Mahakumbh 2025 will run from January 13 to February 26 and is expected to welcome over 45 crore visitors, including 15 lakh international tourists, making it an unparalleled religious congregation. Rooted in the mythology of the Samudra Manthan, where drops of nectar are believed to have fallen, the event symbolizes purification of the soul and self-realization.



Officials from Uttar Pradesh highlighted Mahakumbh’s extraordinary scale, surpassing global events like the Rio Carnival (70 lakh attendees), the Haj pilgrimage (25 lakh attendees), and Oktoberfest (72 lakh attendees). With a projected attendance of 45 crore, Mahakumbh stands as a symbol of global prominence. Economic forecasts indicate that Mahakumbh 2025 will contribute significantly to India’s economy, potentially adding Rs 2 lakh crore.
