Friday, September 27, 2024 The United Nations highlights tourism as a key global economic driver, providing jobs for one in every ten people worldwide. World Tourism Day, observed on September 27, aims to emphasize the crucial role tourism plays internationally. Beyond its economic benefits, tourism also shapes the social, political, and cultural environments of nations and regions.
Since 1980, India has actively participated in World Tourism Day celebrations, contributing to the global recognition of the tourism sector. Uttar Pradesh has allocated Rs 216.22 crore to enhance tourism infrastructure, focusing on accommodating the increasing number of tourists, which has exceeded 48 crore in recent years.
Both international and domestic visitors flock to the state to explore its rich cultural heritage, architecture, and renowned spiritual sites, particularly the Buddhist circuit. The state’s tourism department is undertaking several development projects to enhance spiritual destinations, including Vindhyachal (Ma Vindhyawasini, Kali Khoh, and Ashtbhuja), Gola Gokaran Nath (Lakhimpur Kheri), Puran Mahadev (Baghpat), Shakumbhari Devi, Maghar, Devipatan (Balrampur), Mahadeva (Barabanki), Chitrakoot, and Naimisharanya. Additionally, the Maharaja Suheldev Smarak project in Bahraich is nearing completion.
In honor of hockey legend KD Singh Babu and Yog Guru Paramhans Yoganand, their residences will be transformed into museums. Meanwhile, the birthplaces of Maharshi Valmiki in Lalapu.
