It was a bit of a reprieve for the Aggies defensively two weeks ago as they faced a Wyoming team still searching for its identity on offense. There will be no such reprieve for Utah State following its second and final bye week of the 2024 college football season. The Aggies squared off against three straight explosive offenses in Boise State, UNLV and New Mexico prior to their 27-25 road win over the Cowboys, and they’ll face another prolific offense this weekend.

Up next for USU is No. 20 Washington State, which will welcome the Aggies to Pullman late Saturday evening. The opening kickoff from Gesa Field is scheduled for 8:30 p.

m. and the matchup between the future Pac-12 Conference foes will be televised on The CW. “It should be a fun game, you know, another ranked opponent that we’re coming up against,” USU interim head coach Nate Dreiling said during Monday’s press conference.

“They do an unbelievable job of finishing games. You’ve seen a couple of times they’re down a couple of scores in the fourth quarter and they are very mentally tough, and you just can’t put them away. So, it’s a game that we’re going to have to come out swinging, we’re going to have to stay on top of it because with that quarterback that they have and their offense, they’re never out of the fight.

” Indeed, this is a Washington State squad that has proven it can prevail in come-from-behind fashion. After all, the Cougars (7-1) gamely overcame two-possession fourth-quarter.
