ATTLEBORO — There could be a new used car dealer coming to the downtown. A public hearing before the city council was held Tuesday night for the Attleboro Auto Clinic, LLC, which has applied for a Class II license to sell used cars at 42 County St. Attorney Ed Casey said the two men who want to open the business “went ahead and cleaned up the property” against his advice.

But that showed they “are anxious to invest in downtown Attleboro,” Casey said. The property is .54 acres and currently valued at $381,800.

Rony M. Abboud of Hanover and Haydar Z. Ali of Norwood formed the LLC to open the business.

Abboud said the two would “do whatever it takes to make this a beautiful location.” The dealership would border the Ten Mile River. Azzam (Sam) Izoli is the current owner of the property, which was formerly known as County Auto.

Abboud and Ali plan to replace the plumbing at the business, put in new bathrooms, replace the bay windows, electrical wiring, and bay doors, strip off the old framing and install new lumber and siding. There would be seven service bays split between two buildings. The main one would contain a showroom and a garage of 3,000 square feet.

A second garage would be 1,500 square feet. There would be five customer parking spaces and 32 exterior display spaces covering 4,400 square feet. At least one councilor supports the proposal.

“I’m looking forward to this happening,” Councilor Mike Angelo said. The council took the matter under advisement..
