Pune: The US Consulate in Mumbai on Friday announced that it will fund multiple projects focusing on solid waste management in Maharashtra , brainstormed during the four-day ‘ TechCamp ' event held here this week. Funding will range from USD 2,500-5,000 per project, said officials in the know. US Consul General Mike Hankey said, "We have partnered with leading Indian waste management experts across Maharashtra.

The event has created a space to learn a lot about the topic. It is very exciting for us to find ways to capture materials, clean the environment, produce energy, create jobs — and see where all of it goes next." TechCamp Pune was a collaborative event organized from Sept 24-27 by the US consulate, Symbiosis International (Deemed University) Centre for Waste Resource Management, ExploreiT, and the Climate Reality Project.



It convened international trainers with more than 45 waste management experts from the state, including technocrats, policymakers, industry leaders, researchers, entrepreneurs, civil society leaders and other stakeholders, to address urban waste management challenges. Participants worked together over four days to define these pressing challenges and develop practical solutions for them. They explored how digital tools can improve waste collection, enhance recycling processes, and promote community awareness about sustainable practices.
