They gave a five-star review for their stay at Kalahari Resorts & Conventions in the city of Wisconsin Dells. Most read in Travel Aside from the "clean" room, they were impressed with the waterpark and arcade, as well as bowling and mini-golf options — it is, after all, the largest waterpark in the world. The resort, which offers an African-inspired theme, had plenty of other fans as well.

"The Kalahari is dear to my heart. I have been going there for many years, this was one of the best trips," a traveler commented. They especially appreciated the "fun" water slides.

"Outstanding experience," said another. "Never left the resort. Indoor water park is huge with several pools, slides, and wave pool.

Outside park is very large with faster slides, several pools, and hot tub." They also enjoyed the additional activities, including a movie theater, a "challenging" obstacle course, laser tag, and go-carts. The city is known as the "waterpark capital of the world," with more waterparks per capita than anywhere else.

"It's like Vegas for kids," yet another wrote on the blog Mom Who Works . Aside from its waterpark offerings, she described the area, which is north of the city of Madison, as being a wondrous site for nature's beauty. She noted how the region, which was formed by the glaciers during the last Ice Age, is now home to "beautiful" lakes, as well as limestone cliffs, and wooded areas.

"Picture Las Vegas, but with Northwoods natural beauty, and instead of miles and miles of casinos, you have miles and miles of waterparks," she said. Their waterparks range from African to ancient Rome-themed, as well as those that just scream “We are the biggest, hugest waterpark ever." "Cue cheesy main strip with all the old junk shops, neon and flashing lights, arcades, fudge/candy shops, and junk food restaurants," she said.

There are also plenty of boating options as well as a water ski show that has been offering performances for decades. Kids are sure to feel like they've hit the jackpot when they visit the destination. "Suffice it to say the Dells is my eight-year-old’s favorite vacation spot in the whole world," she said.

She is also a fan of the Kalahari Resort, which is the only place she stays when visiting the area as she appreciates their family-friendly atmosphere. This includes the "really good fruit cocktails" served poolside. "And it’s huge.

Really, really huge. Outdoor waterpark, indoor waterpark, I don’t even know how many restaurants, pottery-making place, candy/ice cream shop," she said. She also recalled the indoor park's full-size Ferris well , rock climbing wall, and merry-go-round.

She compared the spot to Las Vegas for another reason as well. "You know how when you go to Las Vegas and time has no meaning, and you spend hours in carefully crafted environments that have everything you could want or need right at your fingertips?" "You lose all track of day or night, indoors or outdoors, or that a world outside even exists? Well, these Dells waterparks do the same thing but for kids," she said. She described it as being like "Vegas on training wheels.
