The trend of re-releases has taken Indian cinema by storm. In the past few weeks, several cult-classics and iconic releases from Bollywood as well as the South cinema, have drawn the audience to theatres. One such name on the list is the 1999 classic Kannada release, Upendra.

If more reports are to be believed, Upendra has continuously been screened for the past week and does not show any sign of slowing down in the next.
The film’s shows are reportedly going houseful in several places; its popularity not only growing among the local audience but also internationally. As Upendra enters the second week of its re-release, the shows are being reported to be packed across several theatres, indicating the enthusiasm of the fans. According to the producer of the film Shilpa Srinivas, producers from other countries have expressed their wish to acquire the remake rights.
