According to recent insights from aviation analytics leader Cirium, United plans to operate thirty flights on each of these routes throughout the month, totaling 9,540 seats, which equates to an average of 318 seats per flight. Key among these routes is the airline’s service from Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport (FCO) in Rome—Italy’s busiest airport—to Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD), the world’s sixth busiest.
Covering a distance of 4,823 miles, this flight is clocked at approximately 10 hours and 25 minutes, placing United in direct competition with American Airlines and other global carriers. Additionally, United is bridging continents with its route from Athens International Airport to Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) in New Jersey. Spanning just under 5,000 miles, this 10-hour and 45-minute journey stands as a critical link, with Emirates being the only other carrier providing direct service on this stretch.
United also maintains an exclusive non-stop connection from São Paulo/Guarulhos–Governor André Franco Montoro International Airport (GRU) to Chicago O’Hare, traversing more than 5,200 miles in roughly 10 hours and 30 minutes, showcasing its capacity to connect major international markets directly. The competitive route from Tokyo’s Haneda Airport (HND) to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) also features United in a key role. The airline covers about 5,488 miles in just over 10 hours, enhancing its reputation for efficient, long-distance travel.
United’s crowning achievement comes on its longest route, stretching an impressive 6,300 miles from HND to ORD. Leading the competition in both passenger seat miles and speed, United outstrips rivals such as Japan Airlines and ANA by up to 20 minutes, merging rapid transit with unparalleled comfort for an optimal trans-Pacific journey.
