Wednesday, October 2, 2024 United Airlines launches its first non-stop flight from New York/Newark to Dominica, marking the island’s second direct U.S. route and boosting tourism opportunities.

United Airlines is set to introduce a new non-stop flight route from New York/Newark to Dominica’s Douglas-Charles Airport (DOM), starting February 15, 2025. This service will operate on Saturdays,departing from Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), marking the second non-stop connection between the United States and Dominica. This move comes after major upgrades at Douglas-Charles Airport, which now boasts a 6,351-foot extended runway and newly grooved surfaces, allowing for larger aircraft and improving safety measures.



These enhancements will minimize the risk of flight cancellations. Additionally, the terminal expansion increases capacity, making airport operations more efficient. The new direct flight is expected to significantly boost Dominica’s tourism by offering seamless access from the tri-state area, one of the island’s top U.

S. markets. Dominica is also gearing up for a strong 2025 travel season, with new hotel developments adding nearly 500 rooms—a 25% increase in hotel capacity—just in time for the influx of visitors.
