Pune: NCP (SCP) chief Sharad Pawar on Sunday said educated youths in the state were disappointed with govt amid rise in unemployment and govt's inaction in addressing the issue. "The number of educated youths in Maharashtra is high. Recently, it came to light that a large number of graduates are tired of applying for jobs.
Many of them are still jobless. If one does not find a job despite searching for months, s/he is bound to get disappointed. Such people may take an extreme step," Pawar said, while speaking at a public rally for party candidate in Daund.
He said state govt did not look concerned about these youths, just as they were not worried about other important issues like farmers' suicides or women's safety. "Not even 25% of these educated youths are getting jobs in the state. But BJP and its allies are doing nothing," he said, adding that govt was not taking appropriate steps to increase the number of industries to create employment in the state.
Pawar criticised govt over the ‘Laadki Bahin' scheme and said Mahayuti was not worried about women's safety either, despite the number of women abducted and reported missing in the state in the last few months remaining high. The NCP (SCP) chief also held public meetings in Purandar and Indapur constituencies for the party's candidates on Sunday..
