Quentin Tarantino is one of the biggest film directors in after his breakout movie Reservoir Dogs in 1992. Since then, he has gone on to produce some of the best action films to hit the silver screen, working with the likes of John Travolta, Brad Pitt, and Leonardo Di Caprio. Arguably, his most famous movie franchise was the 2003 blockbuster Kill Bill starring blonde bombshell Uma Therman.
The film follows the life of a pregnant assassin who goes into a coma for four years after her ex-boss Bill brutally attacks her. When she wakes up, she sets out to seek revenge on him and his evil associates. And it appears as though working on the set of the movie was just as chaotic with the rising director.
During an appearance on The Conan O’Brien Show, the mum-of-two revealed one of the bizarre things that happened to cast who were caught snoring on set. She claimed that the filmmaker would take a picture of them beside a large purple dildo as they slept. Uma explained: “He had a weapon of choice, there was a large dildo.
“This large dildo, and we’re talking something like this,” Thurman said as she indicated towards her forearm to suggest the enormous scale of the sexual aid. The actress went on: “I don’t know who this is made for, some kind of elephant rapist would use this thing. “This elephant rapist tool, or elephant inseminator, whatever it was.
Whenever snores would be found in various corners of the set, it would be brought out like Jaws.” The director’s wild pranks soon became more and more elaborate, after he built a wall of shame which he proudly displayed in the studio. Uma added: “And then it would be presented at some ungodly, horrific angle next to the face of the offending sleeper.
“There would be photographs, photographs would be taken, and as the photographs were taken there was a wall of shame that started to be built. I attempted to kidnap this wall on several occasions, and I believe the board it was on went missing and was then retrieved by the grip department or something.” After the cast and crew made several attempts to destroy the offending board, Quentin decided to hide it away.
She continued: “Then it was kept under lock and key. “I can’t remember what actors got photographed with the elephant inseminator. I do remember that at one point during a scene we heard snoring and found it was Bill, our first AD (artistic director).
“I think he got hit up with. Big Ben I think they called it.” But Thurman isn’t the only star to tell this story, as Tarantino mainstay Tim Roth claimed the dildo was called ‘Big Jerry’.
He added that you‘d get in even more trouble if you tried to take your photo down. Roth told Jimmy Kimmel that anyone trying to take their snap down it would be replaced with a larger image. He confessed that on the set of Django Unchained things reached a new high that the crew started wearing T-shirts with the offending image on it.
