Monday, September 16, 2024 Uganda recently garnered international attention at the China International Tourism Industry Expo (CITIE) 2024, held in Guangzhou from September 13 to 15, 2024. During the prestigious event, the Ugandan Embassy in Beijing and the Ugandan Consulate General in Guangzhou showcased the country’s rich cultural heritage, abundant wildlife, and stunning natural landscapes, positioning Uganda as a must-visit destination for Chinese tourists and investors. The consulate’s outstanding efforts were recognized during the Expo’s closing ceremony when Uganda was awarded the Best Organizer accolade.

The Expo, hosted by the Culture and Tourism Development and Support Center of Guangdong Province, covered a vast exhibition space of 40,000 square meters. It featured 500 tourism service providers and suppliers from over 50 countries and regions, making CITIE 2024 China’s largest comprehensive international tourism event. The exhibition attracted 43,000 visitors, providing a significant platform for Uganda to tap into the booming Chinese tourism market.
