Monday, October 7, 2024 In response to a significant malfunction of its electronic visa (e-Visa) application portal, Uganda has announced that it will temporarily issue visas on arrival to incoming travelers. This urgent policy shift comes after the country’s e-Visa system experienced technical problems, preventing applicants from accessing the online visa services they depend on to enter Uganda. The Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration Control shared the news via a statement on the X platform (formerly Twitter), where the agency confirmed that the temporary measure is aimed at mitigating the impact of the system’s downtime on international travel to Uganda.

Travelers planning to visit the country are advised to prepare for visa processing upon arrival, provided they meet all standard entry requirements. This decision, while disruptive to regular travel plans, ensures that tourists, business visitors, and other travelers can still access Uganda while the country works to restore its e-Visa portal. The problem began when Uganda’s e-Visa portal, hosted at their website, encountered unexpected technical difficulties.
