Pune: Union minister of commerce and industries Piyush Goyal on Wednesday slammed Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray for objecting to checking of his luggage by Election Commission officials. "It appears that he has some ill intentions and is scared of getting caught. Therefore, he is objecting to his luggage being checked," Goyal said.
Goyal visited Pune on Wednesday to participate in a poll campaign for the Mahayuti candidates. While interacting with the media, he criticised Uddhav and other MVA members for raising questions over checking of luggage of opposition members by election officials. He said, "It is part of the job of election officials to check the luggage.
Devendra Fadnavis's bags were checked on Nov 5 and 7. Even we undergo such checks during election campaign period, but we never make any issue of it." "Every common person has to go through such checks.
Are Uddhav Thackeray and members of the Gandhi family different from others in this country?" Goyal said. He also accused Uddhav of abandoning Hindutva ideology. "After joining Congress and Sharad Pawar's party, Uddhav has totally given away Hindutva.
He is now only doing politics of appeasement. Now, the only thing that remains for him is to wear a cap," Goyal said..
