It's been over a decade since we started collecting the Rayman Legends achievements , yet we've seen hide nor hair of another game from the popular Xbox platforming game series . That changes today, however, as Ubisoft has confirmed that it's working on a new Rayman game . Ubisoft is working on a new Rayman project Following news this week that Ubisoft disbanded the Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown team after the game failed to meet the company's sales expectations, Ubisoft has confirmed it's working on a new Rayman project.
“We are pleased to confirm Ubisoft Montpellier and Ubisoft Milan have recently started an exploration phase on the Rayman brand,” a Ubisoft spokesperson said in a statement sent to Kotaku . “The project is still in its early stages, and we will share more details later.” While Ubisoft's statement doesn't reveal what the project might look like, a report from Insider Gaming suggests that the team is working on a Rayman Remake under the codename Project Steambot.
The original Rayman launched on PS1 and other platforms in 1995, launching the limbless protagonist into the spotlight. After such a long wait, it would be awesome to see the first game get some love and, hopefully, push Ubisoft to work on new Rayman games in the future. According to the report, Rayman creator Michel Ancel is involved with the project as a consultant, which has reportedly ruffled some feathers amongst Ubisoft's developers.
Ancel was working on the very, very long-awaited Be.
