Representative Image MUMBAI: A 17-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped by two men, in their 20s, in the Vasai region, on Thurs. The police have arrested the two men under sections of POCSO . The girl, a class 12 student and resident of Mumbai, used to frequently visit her friend's home in the Vasai region.

She had come in contact with a 25-year-old man who worked in a nearby photography studio. They exchanged phone numbers last week and got chatting. On Thurs, the accused called her on her cellphone and asked her to meet him at a designated spot in the region.

When she reached the spot, the man told her about going out for a stroll. He was accompanied by his friend, whom she had not seen before. They got into an autorickshaw and reached an isolated spot.

In her complaint to the police, she stated that after alighting from the auto, they forced her to walk to a secluded spot where they took turns to rape her. The men put her back in the autorickshaw and dropped her at the railway station before warning her against speaking about the abuse. The girl returned home and confided in her parents, who approached the police.

The girl told the police that her friend was not aware of her visit and meeting with the man. The victim's identity has not been revealed to protect her privacy as per Supreme court directives on cases related to sexual assault.
