Pune: Among the eight constituencies in Pune city, Parvati is the only seat where Mahayuti and MVA have fielded two women candidates. Local residents are thrilled over this unique contest but say they are looking for solutions to some long-pending and newly emerging issues. Rehabilitation of slum dwellers in Dandekar Bridge, Janata Vasahat, Indiranagar, and Bibwewadi has been on a slow track.

They have demanded Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) schemes be speedily executed. Traffic chaos has become a major challenge in the last few years. Commuters from Satara and Sinhagad roads are expecting that the new legislator will work towards making key junctions such as Swargate, Marketyard and Gangadham Chowk congestion-free to ensure smoother movement.

Traders from the Marketyard area too have been demanding a flyover to tackle heavy traffic on the road that leads to Kondhwa. Ashok Sathe from Dandekar Bridge said SRA projects are not moving ahead. "Their non-execution is also inviting illegal huts in the pockets around Dandekar Bridge, Janata Vasahat and Parvati.

Most of the area around the Parvati hill is full of huts." Another local resident Vinod Gaikwad said the new MLA should focus on resolving all technical issues related to SRA projects in Parvati, which will give a big relief to many citizens. "If such projects can be executed in Mumbai, why not in Pune.

" Current MLA Madhuri Misal (BJP), who is looking for a straight fourth win, said she is following up with the state gov.
