Pune: A Std XII student of a prominent college in Baramati was stabbed to death by two friends studying in the same insitute around Monday noon in front of its administrative. The duo attacked the victim, 17, with a sickle and a knife that they had hidden in their college bags. Police have detained one of the attackers, and are tracing the other student.

Pankaj Deshmukh, superintendent of police (Pune Rural), said, "The assailants involved in the murder are 17 years old. We will request the Juvenile Justice Board for permission to treat them as adults during trial." Ganesh Biradar, additional superintendent of police, Pune Rural, told TOI: "Prima facie investigations revealed that the murder was the fallout of heated arguments between the deceased student and one of the suspects over a motorcycle.



" "The students had hidden a sickle and a knife inside their college bags and gained entry inside," Biradar said. After noticing the victim standing in front of the administrative building, they approached him and assaulted him with the sharp weapons, he added. The incident created panic among other students on campus.

"CCTV footage recovered from the college showed that after stabbing the victim, the duo started running away. Some people chased them and nabbed one of them. The other student fled," Biradar said.

After the police team reached the spot, they took the student into custody. "During questioning, the student claimed that he and the victim has been having some altercations .
