Pune: The Mundhwa police on Tuesday night arrested a 38-year-old tuition teacher in the city on the charge of sexually harassing a 15-year-old girl student on Aug 26. The police produced the teacher before a special court on Wednesday, which ordered his custodial remand till Aug 29. Senior inspector Nilkant Jagtap of the Mundhwa police said the girl is a student of Standard X at a local school.
She had joined the tuition classes run by the teacher in June for studying different subjects, so that she could prepare for the SSC examination. Jagtap said the girl, in her complaint, said the teacher asked her to wait after the other students left the class, under the pretext of making her sit for a written test. The teacher harassed her by making unwelcome remarks, which made her uncomfortable, and also touched her inappropriately, the girl said.
