Saturday, November 9, 2024 In the first nine months of 2024, Türkiye welcomed an unprecedented 49.2 million tourists and generated $46.9 billion in tourism revenue, marking record-breaking performance indicators for the nation.

These figures represent a 9% increase in tourist arrivals and a 7% rise in revenue compared to the same period last year, positioning Türkiye to potentially exceed its annual target of 60 million tourists. During a press briefing in Istanbul, the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism unveiled these remarkable third-quarter results. Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy highlighted the significant growth, noting that the achieved figures for the initial three quarters are the highest in the history of the Republic of Türkiye.



Consequently, the target for the year-end has been adjusted to 61 million visitors. Istanbul and Antalya, key tourist destinations within Türkiye, reported substantial visitor increases. Istanbul alone attracted over 14 million international tourists, a 7% increase, with famed sites like the Historical Peninsula, Taksim, Karaköy, and the Bosphorus areas drawing crowds from over 200 countries spanning the Americas, Europe, Africa, Australia, and Asia.

Antalya, dubbed the “Turkish capital of tourism,” saw over 13.3 million visitors, leading the eastern Mediterranean in tourist arrivals. Türkiye’s primary source markets—Russia, Germany, and the United Kingdom—have shown robust growth.
