Wednesday, August 21, 2024 Turkish Airlines has revised its route expansion strategy, revealing plans to introduce 25 new destinations across the globe. As a member of the Star Alliance, the airline has disclosed its updated list of future routes, featuring eight new international cities in Europe, four in the Americas, nine in the Middle East and Africa, and two in the Asia-Pacific region. Additionally, the airline plans to add two new domestic destinations within Turkey.

One notable addition is Atyrau, located in western Kazakhstan on the Caspian Sea. Currently, Turkish Airlines operates flights to four cities in Kazakhstan: up to twice daily to Almaty, daily to Astana, and bi-weekly to both Aktau and Turkistan. A new route to Atyrau Airport (GUW) would make it the second connection to Istanbul Airport from GUW, joining Air Astana’s thrice-weekly service.



Other European connections from GUW include flights by Air Astana to Amsterdam, Antalya, and Kutaisi, as well as Aeroflot’s service from Moscow Sheremetyevo. The airline’s future European destinations include Bergen in Norway; Glasgow in Scotland; Iasi and Timisoara in Romania; Katowice in Poland; Nantes in France; and Newcastle in England. Domestically, Turkish Airlines is looking to serve Bayburt and Yozgat.

In the Middle East and Africa, Turkish Airlines is targeting Abha in Saudi Arabia; Aswan in Egypt; Brazzaville in the Republic of the Congo; Hargeisa in Somaliland; Lome in Togo; Port Sudan in Sudan; Salalah in Oman; and Windhoek in Namibia. The Asia-Pacific additions will include Phnom Penh in Cambodia and Sydney in Australia, while the Americas will see new routes to Lima in Peru; Orlando in the U.S.
