Thursday, August 22, 2024 TUI Airways is gearing up to reinvigorate its route offerings with the launch of a new service between Cardiff, Wales, and Chambéry, France, commencing December 21. This new route will be operated weekly on Saturdays and is notable as it reinstates a ski destination option from Cardiff for the first time since the winter season of 2019-2020, ending on March 15, 2025. The introduction of this route is anticipated to boost local tourism and provide travelers with easier access to some of the top ski resorts in the French Alps.

It reflects TUI Airways’ commitment to expanding its network and enhancing accessibility to key leisure destinations for its customers. Furthermore, Cardiff Airport has also confirmed a new partnership with Icelandic low-cost carrier Play. This collaboration will see the introduction of a bi-weekly service connecting Cardiff with Reykjavik Keflavik Airport, starting October 10.

The service will operate twice a week over a six-week period and is strategically timed to cater to soccer enthusiasts. It coincides with the scheduled matches between the national teams of Iceland and Wales, with the first match set to take place in Reykjavik’s Laugardalsvelli stadium on October 11, followed by a return match in Cardiff on November 19. These flights are expected not only to support sports-related travel but also to enhance cultural exchanges and tourism between Iceland and Wales.

This initiative is part of a broader effort by Cardiff Airport to increase its connectivity and offer more diverse travel options to its passengers, further positioning itself as a key player in the regional travel industry..
