Lead and copper have been detected from the break room sink at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport , leading to concern that the Transportation Security Administration employees may have been exposed to water they have previously consumed from the affected sink. Potential exposure to lead and copper According to a report by King 5 , two separate tests have been completed on a tap in the TSA's South Break Room. The tests identified alarming levels of lead and copper in the water.

This was determined through routine testing set out by the US General Services Administration in federal buildings. In September earlier this year, the TSA employees were advised that lead and copper had been detected in the sink, and in an abundance of caution, the taps were turned off. Alternative water and sanitizer were then provided.

However, this has not calmed the nerves of some TSA staff members who believe they could have been affected and how much lead or copper they may have unknowingly consumed. Some anonymously spoke with King5 and identified crew members who drank from those taps and brushed their teeth during or at the end of long shifts. It is unclear how long the exposure may have been taking place, leading to more concern about the level of potential exposure for long-serving staff members .

Common signs of lead consumption can be increased chances of stroke, cancer, or memory problems while drinking copper can result in diarrhea, kidney or liver damage, and vomiting. The trusted tr.
