Move ahead of keychains and postcards as souvenirs because you can now bring “100% authentic air” from Italy’s Lake Como for all of your loved ones. Strange, right? Communications company ItalyComunica has introduced the 'Lake Como Air' cans. According to the product website, each can contains 400ml of pure air from one of the most stunning lakes in the world.
The website described the product as "a luxurious souvenir, perfect for those who wish to rediscover the peace and elegance of this heavenly corner, sealed in a tin." Further, it encouraged tourists to take this can home and open it whenever you need a moment of escape, tranquillity, or simply beauty." The cans are priced 9.
90 euros or ₹ 926 and each of it holds 400 milliliters of Lake Como’s air. Alessandro Rapinese, the mayor of Como, suggests that while this is a creative idea, he would prefer tourists take home traditional souvenirs like the silk scarves - for which the region is known. “It’s a novel idea, but not for everyone,” he says.
For the unversed, Lake Como is an enchanting destination, which is located an hour train ride away from Milan. This lake provides a real contrast to southern Italy’s sunbaked beaches. With its breathtaking natural beauty, postcard-perfect towns and vibrant culture, it’s one of those places you can’t quite believe is real.
Although it seems to be but Lake Como’s canned air is not an entirely new idea. ItalyComunica got the concept from similar products in Napl.
