From the snow-capped peaks of Lake Tahoe and the Ruby Mountains to the breathtaking desert landscapes of its southern regions, Nevada offers spectacular views at every turn. Travel Nevada, a division of the Nevada Department of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, is dedicated to promoting the state as a premier travel destination.

By providing local communities and businesses with essential development resources, training, and grant assistance, Travel Nevada helps strengthen local economies and diversify regional economic bases. The FY25 Strategic Plan by Travel Nevada outlines several key initiatives to foster responsible tourism and support local communities. The Destination Development strategy focuses on empowering rural communities to recognize their unique attributes and develop infrastructure and marketing plans that showcase these strengths, ultimately enhancing the experience for visitors and improving the quality of life for residents.



A significant aspect of Travel Nevada’s approach is strengthening Industry Relations by supporting partner organizations in evolving into Destination Management Organizations (DMOs). This strategic shift aims to enhance the sustainability and stewardship of tourism-related resources. Additionally, the organization invests in partnerships with state and federal land management agencies to align on goals that promote sustainable tourism and the conservation of natural resources.

Under the In-State Market Development priority, Travel Nevada encourages Nevadans to explore their own state, supporting local businesses and fostering a “buy local” culture. This initiative builds partnerships with Nevada businesses beyond traditional tourism products and seeks to educate residents about the state’s diverse offerings. It also promotes responsible travel and encourages locals to become ambassadors of their own state.

Travel Nevada is also working on a Destination Stewardship Plan, reflecting its commitment to enhancing the quality of life for all Nevadans by preserving the state’s rich cultural heritage. This plan, developed in collaboration with leading industry experts, will incorporate best practices in destination stewardship and responsible tourism, focusing on both immediate and long-term objectives. In its International Market Development initiative, Travel Nevada aims to raise global awareness of Nevada’s appeal as a vacation destination.

By highlighting the state’s outdoor recreation, unique urban experiences, and historic towns, the initiative seeks to attract more international visitors and boost tourism spending. Travel Nevada actively participates in international travel trade shows and partners with global tour operators to promote Nevada’s attractions, underscoring the importance of sustainability and responsible tourism. These initiatives underscore Travel Nevada’s dedication to embedding sustainability within its tourism strategies, ensuring that both residents and visitors contribute positively to Nevada’s environmental health and economic prosperity.
