TRAINER Roger Varian was reduced to tears after witnessing his all-conquering Charyn demolish rivals en route to an easy £500,000 winner. The British handler was awestruck as his stable star wiped the floor with the best milers in the Jacques Le Marois at Deauville on Sunday. Impressive! Charyn surges clear in the Group 1 Jacques le Marois at Deauville for @varianstable and @SilvDSousa .

Owned by Nurlan Bizakov, a Kazakh oil baron, Charyn confirmed himself the world's best over a mile. And in doing so reduced his proud trainer to tears in the winner's enclosure. An emotional Varian said after the half a million quid victory: "It was a very comfortable watch, I'm looking forward to seeing it again.

"He's a great horse, he seems to be getting better and better. He's a horse who makes my job look easy and I just hope he stays sound. "I don't know what else to say, he made me cry.

He's such a beautiful horse. "He was most impressive in the way he put it to bed and he seems to be getting better and better. "Some people forget he was a Group 2 winner at two and now he's the finished article.

"You don't always know where you are with him, he's very laid-back at home and he carries a lot of condition. I always wonder if I've done enough with him. "He has a great mind, he's very relaxed and he makes my job very easy.

"Silvestre (de Sousa, winning jockey) is striking up a good relationship with him and I'm delighted for Nurlan and his family. They put so much into the game." Victory secured Charyn a spot in the Breeders' Cup Mile in November.

That could prove a red-hot contest with the likes of Sussex Stakes winner Notable Speech, the under-the-weather Rosallion and super filly Porta Fortuna all part of the potential line-up. But it seems Ascot will be the most likely port of call for Champions Day. Varian added: "He got a win-and-you're-in from the Queen Anne, I'm not sure it's a route we'll go down (Breeders' Cup).

"We have a lot of ground to cover before then, but it's nice to be invited and it's nice to have it as an option for the end of the year. "We'll have to see how he is after today's race, he's in the Moulin and he's in the QEII, we like the idea of Ascot on Champions Day - it's just whether we go to Longchamp on the way or not." Charyn was made 5-2 fav from 9-2 for the QEII while bookies cut him to 10s from 14s for the Breeders' Cup Mile.
