Commercial flights from Syria have resumed following the fall of Assad's regime. The resumption of flights to the country comes after operations were suspended when former President Bashar Al Assad's government was ousted in December 2024. Qatar Airways operated the first inbound flight to Damascus, departing from its primary hub at Doha International Airport.

As of now, the Doha-based airline is the first major international airline to resume commercial flights to Syria. Meanwhile, the first outbound flight from the country's capital, heading to Sharjah, was operated by Syrian Air. Qatar Airways' historic return to Damascus Qatar Airways flight QR410 marks the first inbound international flight to Syria since the regime change.



This flight also marks the airline's historic resumption of commercial services between Qatar and Syria after more than a decade. In 2011, Qatar Airways suspended its flights to Damascus and Aleppo due to the onset of the civil war in Syria. A Qatar Airways Airbus A330-200 widebody, registered as A7-ACM, took off from Doha Hamad International Airport (DOH) to Damascus International Airport (DAM) on January 7, 2025, marking Qatar Airways' first commercial service to Damascus after a 13-year hiatus.
