THERE will be no easing themselves into 2025 for Deeside Dragons’ players! A busy weekend schedule opens the programme for the year, starting with tomorrow’s trip to second-placed Blackburn Hawks. Then, on Sunday, the third-placed Dragons are on their travels again to Solihull Barons, who are fourth. Reflecting on what is sure to be a testing start to 2025 for the side, assistant head coach Matt Compton said: “Blackburn away on the fourth, it’s straight back to it! “We have got to get these games in at some point.

When you look at it, probably not many teams have back-to-backs like that. “But we will be ready to go and expecting to get six points.” Mixed outcomes ended 2024 for Deeside Dragons.



The final away match resulted in a 10-4 triumph against Widnes Wild, before the Dragons pushed league leaders Billingham Stars all the way in a 6-4 defeat. Things were close for the opening two-thirds of the Widnes encounter and Dragons held a narrow 5-4 advantage at the final break.
