Black History Month is back in the UK this October, marking over 30 years of national celebration. The month-long event, which was started in the 1980s by Ghanaian refugee Akyaaba Addai-Sebo, aims to spotlight the experiences of African and Caribbean communities in Britain. Although BHM was first observed in the USA during the 1970s, it was Addai-Sebo who introduced it to the UK.
