The talent-filled future of WA’s art scene is on display in Mandurah. Works by 17 arts graduates from Edith Cowan University, Curtin University and North Metro TAFE feature in the Today Tomorrow exhibition, which runs at Contemporary Art Spaces Mandurah and the Alcoa Mandurah Art Gallery until August 18. The exhibition showcases a vast array of artwork across different genres.

Works by Curtin University graduate Taylor Gollan, a previous winner of the City of Mandurah’s Masterpieces art competition, is among those being shown at CASM. Gollan is a multi-disciplinary artist who focuses on printmaking, painting, and digital processes and methods, and draws inspiration from the Australian bushland, ecosystems and animals. “I had a very active childhood surrounded by nature, wildlife, camping, fishing and have parents that taught me to preserve and care for the land and animals, as one day they might be gone,” she said.

“My love and passion for native animals and conveying their beauty is my attempt at promoting conservation and expressing the need we have to act and conserve these beautiful creatures. “I position native animals in unique settings to create deeper meanings and metaphors within my artwork, such as native fish in a deli to convey consumerism within the commercial fishing space. My artwork also delves into connection with country, heritage and identity via deeper meanings and metaphorical depictions.

” The exhibition is a first for the Peel region and aims to showcase emerging artists’ talent and give budding Mandurah artists the chance to see new artwork, as well as giving the graduate artists the opportunity to reach new audiences. An artist talk will be held on August 18 from 11am starting at CASM and finishing at AMAG. More information at mandurah.
