100 Years Ago, 1924: Someone who attended a rummage sale conducted for the benefit of a local church yesterday got more than they bargained for. Their gain is the loss of Mrs. Frank Bartholf, 1131 Madison St.

, who, after everything was sold, discovered that her pocketbook, which contained a sum of money, her keys and a book of stamps, had been sold to one of the bargain hunters. The purse was a prized gift. It was made of Russian leather and had silver claps.



When Mrs. Bartholf entered to assist with the sales, she laid her purse on a counter where other wallets, that had been donated, were on display. The prize was sold for 10 cents.
