The West Hancock boys basketball team matched up with the No. 1 team in Class 2A, Peoria Manual, on Saturday, Dec. 21, at the Great Western Shootout and the Rams prevailed 70-57.
The Rams led 18-13 after one quarter. Dietrich Richardson led the Rams with six points. Joshua Humbles had five points.
Terrence Paige scored three points. Jaquan Brown and Reginald Postelwaite each scored two points. Hunter Froman and Lewis Siegfried each had a three-pointer and a two-point hoop for five points each.
Cooper Knowles scored an old fashioned three-point play. The Titans outscored the Rams 14-13 and trailed 31-27 at the half. Knowles knocked down six points.
Siegfried got four points. Braden Hurt had a bucket and Nolan Gooding was successful on both free throws. Richardson put in five points.
Humbles and Davion McClendon contributed four points each. Both teams found their second wind with the Rams edging the Titans 22-20 in the third quarter for a 53-47 advantage. Paige added 12 points to his total.
Humbles had eight points. McClendon added a bucket. Froman led the Titans with nine points.
Knowles added six more tallies to his total. Jordan Crowley corralled five points. The Rams closed out the victory with a 17-10 final period.
Paige knocked down six points. Humbles notched five points. Tahj Tolliver, McLendon and Brown scored two points each.
