A small fishing town in the Antalya province offers 'undiluted Turkishness' where you can swim above a sunken ancient city. Turkey is a favourite destination for many holidaymakers and caters to every taste. For families looking for convenience and entertainment for children, there are a huge number of all-inclusive hotels, some with waterparks on site to keep the kids happy all day long.

There are also plenty of smaller hotels or villas for couples or friends who want a quieter, more relaxing break. Mainstream tourism has certainly changed the resorts over the last 30 or so years and they now cater for European tastes more than ever. However if you're after something more traditional and want to experience Turkey how it used to be, there's a small fishing town in the Antalya Province on the southwestern, Mediterranean coast that could be for you.

Kas is a charming resort where the whitewashed houses are draped in beautiful bougainvillaea and the pace of life is much more laid back than other tourist hotspots. It's around a 30 minute drive from the sophisticated town of Kalkan, which is hugely popular with visitors and has plenty of upmarket boutique hotels and villas and chic bars and restaurants for those who are after a break that has a cosmopolitan feel. Kas is still a working town with a harbour full of fishing boats that has managed to stay almost.
