AROUND VT Vermont Coverts: Woodlands for Wildlife announced Tracy Winn, of Granville, and Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department habitat biologist Andrea Shortsleeve, of Essex Junction, were honored at its 2024 annual meeting Sept. 14. Winn received the David Clarkson award, given to an outstanding Vermont Coverts Cooperator hosting workshops, a bioblitz on her property, and conserving her land with Vermont Land Trust.
Shortsleeve was given the James Engle award for promoting the Vermont Coverts mission in forest stewardship, wildlife management and outreach to landowners. The Vermont Coverts organization provides education to landowners and others about forest management and wildlife stewardship through a peer-to-peer network.
