“Everyone here has done bad things” and someone wants them all gone. The upcoming Marvel offering Thunderbolts*, set to release on May 2, 2025, dropped its first trailer on Monday, thereby taking social media by storm. It follows an ensemble of reformed supervillains, a gang of Marvel misfits, including people who’ve been accused of contact killings, robbing government labs, being shadow ops, and more; put in a team to go on a deadly mission.

The trailer begins with Florence Pugh’s Black Widow Yelena meeting her father Alexei Shostakov (David Harbour) to express her discontent over living a sad life. “There is something wrong with me. An emptiness.

I’m just drifting. And I don’t have a purpose. I thought throwing myself into work was the answer,” she says before the action ensues in the three-minute trailer.

We see the return of the Winter Soldier Bucky (Sebastian Stan) involved in a high-octane stunt sequence, and Yelena isn’t behind. If you think there are good guys and bad guys in the world, this Marvel lot is the worst of them all. Hence, it’s no surprise that it didn’t take long for the trailer to generate a flurry of reactions online.

#Thunderbolts is a kind of Suicide squad but marvel version, Winter soldier is the leader of this group Not Yelena belova according to @DanielRPK And replace taskmaster female version to male version https://t.co/nk0W2zQS9A — yanshio Main Account (@VazquezpYan1995) September 24, 2024 IM SO READY FOR FLORENCE PUGH AND SEBASTIAN STAN TOGETHER ON THE BIG SCREEN, ITS GONNA BE AMAZINGGGGGG!!!!!!!! #Thunderbolts * pic.twitter.

It has a solid narrative hook (not the SS knockoff that I feared) & visually it looks impressive. https://t.co/1OfwnOgRQb — Edwin Kim (@MantaBluRay) September 24, 2024 THIS YELENA LOOK.

That skyline is the south east view from the MetLife, with the UN building on the left and Gotham Point on the right. The MetLife is where Avengers Tower is in the MCU. #Thunderbolts https://t.

. This trailer sold me a bit. Awesome hand to hand combat, action set pieces look enjoyable and I’m more interested in the story.

2 things: • WHY is Bucky in this? • Still not a Valentina fan pic.twitter.com/p7mQk7LgUt — Reel James (@itsreeljames) September 23, 2024 DRACO MALFOY LOOKS DIFFERENT HERE #Thunderbolts * pic.

twitter.com/uKRwN0gH6d — steph🪩 (@hum5ug) September 23, 2024 If that wasn’t enough, Marvel fans are already cooking up crazy death theories involving Taskmaster aka Antonia Dreykov (Olga Kurlenko). A fan hypothesized, “I am not seeing a lot of Taskmaster in this trailer.

It makes me think that they’re hiding something with her, do we think she dies? I could definitely be wrong, but the group shot in Avengers tower seems to me to be near the end of the movie and she isn’t there.” I am NOT seeing a lot of Taskmaster in this trailer..
