MURRAY, Ky. — University of South Dakota football clinched its first road victory of the season in dominating fashion 59-0 against Murray State on Saturday. Aidan Bouman finished the day with 221 yards, a touchdown and an interception on 16-for-22 passing.

Travis Theis and Charles Pierre combined for five touchdowns. Quaron Adams was the leading receiver with 83 yards. On defense, Gabriel Hardman and Dennis Shorter had an interception each.



The Coyote offense had another big day with 582 total yards. ADVERTISEMENT With that, here are three observations from the game ..

. Through the Coyotes’ first four games of the season, the opening quarter had been a mixed bag. USD had slow starts against Northern State and Wisconsin but steadily improved against Drake and Southern Illinois.

But against Murray State, USD came out in the first quarter and all but took full control of the game within minutes. Offensively, the Coyotes were getting whatever they wanted. The Racers couldn’t contend with the offensive line physicality and that resulted in the run game having no problem moving the ball to the tune of 118 on the ground.

Meanwhile, Bouman and the passing game were having plenty of success too. He was especially taking advantage of open receivers in short yardage and was once again finding success over the top of the defense. Defensively, the physicality came into play again.
