A film school for poorer and neurodiverse children is among the latest recipients of a community fund scheme. Some £34,000 has already been dished out by the Newhaven Enterprise Zone in the past year to organisations which help people in the area. Film Sussex has received £5,000 towards its "You're a filmmaker: get making" programme and Seahaven Force Community Club received £3,488 which it will use to develop a free summer school for 24 young people.
Corinne Day, programme director at Newhaven Enterprise Zone, said: “We’re so pleased to be able to support Film Sussex and Seahaven Force Community Club in their efforts to support our local community and we can’t wait to hear about how their projects develop." The enterprise zone is appealing for more groups to apply for their share of a £32,000 still available over the course of the year. Film Sussex will use the money to provide training for neurodiverse and poorer people in the town to help them get a job in the film industry.
Seahaven Force Community Club will use the funding for a free summer camp for dozens of primary school children. Miguel Tello, founder of Seahaven Force Community Club, said: “ “We are very excited about this new opportunity. Our goal is to make a meaningful positive impact in young people's lives and we are now offered a rare opportunity to make it happen.
