Today we're celebrating the legacy of Fran Fine – the "lady in red when everybody else was wearing tan" – and the show that gave us endless laughs and unforgettable looks. Watch the moment we met Fran Fine for the first time in the video above. The series was created by Fran Drescher and then-husband Peter Marc Jacobson.

With her bold accent and even bolder wardrobe, Drescher's Fran Fine was unlike any character audiences had seen before. Both Drescher and Jacobson took to Instagram to acknowledge the 31st anniversary of the beloved show.

Jacobson's post hilariously read: "Happy 31st Anniversary. Feels like 29!" – a nod to Fran's unacknowledged age on the show. What The Nanny did for fashion can't be ignored.
