The Sullivan County Public Library has five locations to serve the community. LIBRARY NEWS All branches of the Sullivan County Public Library will be closed for the Labor Day holiday on Monday, Sept. 2.

It is a volunteer position. A board member needs to live in Sullivan County and be willing to commit to meeting six times (bimonthly) a year to help in making decisions facing the library. If interested, please pick up an application from any of our library branches.

Claris Companion Tablets for senior citizens are now available for checkout through our Blountville branch (Sullivan Main). These are easy-to-use tablets with large buttons allowing seniors to stay active and in touch through the use of technology. Want to learn more? FOR CHILDREN AND TEENS Preschool Storytime is for ages 2-5 to help build skills needed for entering school. Pre-K Storytime has picture book time along with activities or crafts that help children learn concepts and socialize with other children of the same age. Our themes are the same at each branch, so if you miss the Storytime at your branch you can always visit another.

I Survived with Mr. Daniel - History lessons inspired by the I Survived Series - Thursdays at 1:30 p.m.

We'll be reading four books from the I Survived series: "I Survived the American Revolution 1776," "I Survived the Battle of D-Day 1944," "I Survived the Galveston Hurricane 1900" and "I Survived The Great Molasses Flood of 1919." Okay, they aren’t really secrets, but it might feel that way if you are new to using it. Join Sullivan Gardens to learn all about our Online Catalog. You’ll learn how to search effectively, place a hold, remove a hold, delay a hold’s delivery (like if you go on vacation), determine when your items are due, how to search the collections of other libraries in our region and more.

No reservations required to attend this class. A Knit/Crochet Club will meet at Blountville on Wednesdays from 1-3 p.m.

Whether you want to learn or want to work on projects for the community, all can join the Knit/Crochet Club. Participants will share ideas and patterns, and have opportunities to serve others by making and donating items to area non-profits. Saturday Knit and Crochet will meet on Saturday, Sept.
